”Zeinab is a dynamic entrepreneur in her early seventies, who has been running a printing business in Tanta for the better part of the last two decades, and is supported by her son Sherif, and their four staff
Her primary business is black and white paper and cardboard printing for local businesses, as well as public entities such as the municipal education authority- where she recently won a public tender, but she is expanding into full color prints for local restaurants, marketing agencies, and magazines
She was one of the first clients to receive financing from Sandah for Microfinance, when the company opened its Tanta branch in September 2018. Tanta is the fifth most populous city in Egypt, and the capital of the rural and financially underserved governorate of Gharbia
With a loan of EGP 80K (C. USD 4.5 K), Zeinab has been able to buy a raw materials and supplies for her business
Zeinab’s dream is to someday save enough to buy a third Heidelberg offset printing machine which cost 450K which will allow her to take on bigger orders, and hire more employees.
Khaled from Sohag, Egypt

”Khaled is a certified shipwright in his late sixties, whose traditional craft has been practiced and passed down over two generations. Today Khaled is supported by his son Mohamed, and their five full-time staff
His primary business is the construction of fishing boats, both 6-meter boats to navigate the Nile River and 4 to 5-meter boats for narrow canals. Khaled is well-recognized in his community, and manufactured around 100 boats during the last year
He was one of the first clients to receive from Sandah for Microfinance, when the company opened its Sohag branch in July 2018.
Sohag is the seventh most populous city in Egypt, and is one of the top three most poverty stricken and underserved governorates
With a loan of EGP 100K* (C. USD 5.6 K), Khaled was able to purchase the materials necessary to construct an additional 20 boats, to grow sales by one-third, and to sustain the employment of his Staff
Khaled’s dream is to further develop and expand his offering, as well as, relocate to a larger workshop. With Sandah’s support, Khaled believes he can someday achieve this life-long ambition.
